The ROI on chasing AI prompts directly is still garbage at scale. HubSpot's AEO tooling is bloody early - you can't isolate the exact prompts driving conversions like you can with search queries.
What actually moves the needle? Start with the conversion data you already own. I'm pulling language from sales call transcripts and demo recordings. Cross-reference that against high-converting long-tail queries in GSC. Monitor branded vs. unbranded traffic shifts - that tells you if the AI is even surfacing you.
Manual prompt testing in ChatGPT/Perplexity/Gemini is basic hygiene. And track which competitor or industry sites get cited repeatedly - that's your gap to close.
Then build FAQ, use-case, and comparison pages around the real buyer questions. The prompts that convert are almost always commercial-intent heavy, not generic "what is..." crap.
