We recently yanked our Google Ads in-house from an agency after discovering they'd essentially lit our budget on fire funneling everything into Branded terms through PMax. The mismanagement was staggering.
We sell high-ticket home decor pieces-around $450 a pop-so there's a longer consideration cycle built into the purchase. For about a month now, I've been running our own campaigns with Manual CPC bidding: a Brand campaign at $5 a day and a Non-Brand at $40.
The Search Term reports look gorgeous. relevant terms, decent clickthrough rates. But zero conversions from the Non-Brand side. zero. I've triple-checked conversion tracking, it's not broken.
The weirdest part? Our organic traffic converts beautifully. The website, the product pages, the vibe-everything resonates when people find us naturally. but paid clicks? They arrive, they browse, they leave. Ghostly silence.
i know our product requires some dreaming time before purchase, but after a month of consistent spend, I'd expected at least a few orders to trickle through. We're using collection pages as landing pages for the Non-Brand ads-not perfectly optimised for purchase, I admit, but the whole page breathes relevance to the search term.
To test another angle, I just launched a Shopping campaign this week. Still waiting for that to whisper back.
What am I missing here? Audience signals? A different campaign structure? The data all screams that we're hitting the right people, but the checkout page stays empty.
