Spent months trying to get my SaaS off the ground with manual LinkedIn outreach. Cringe looking back at my first messages. Fake personalisation? gets ignored instantly. Starting with a voice note didn't move the needle either.
What actually worked: open with a simple, direct text. ask a question tied to a real problem they face, not a fake compliment. For me: "How long does it take a new rep to handle calls without manager help?" Then explain why I'm asking - no feature list, just the outcome. end with a light ask: "Open to a quick look?"
If no reply in two days, send a confident voice note. "Hey, I sent you something a couple days ago, curious what you think." Tonality matters - sound energetic but not scripted. A bit of hesitation makes it human. that doubled my reply rate.
But here's the rub: this only works if your list is tight and loaded with real signals. Otherwise you're just A/B testing copy on the wrong people. and it doesn't scale well without losing quality - that's the trade-off.
