Been there - running a campaign for a friend, ads looked solid, decent CTR, but zero conversions. The landing page got a 'below average' rating from Google, and I couldn't figure out why. It's that gut-wrenching feeling of doing everything right and getting nothing back.
A few things I learned the hard way:
First, double-check your conversion tracking. If it's broken, you're flying blind. Second, go through the search terms report - sometimes you're paying for clicks from totally unrelated queries. Third, test the landing page experience on both mobile and desktop. How far does someone have to scroll to see what you offer and the CTA? If it's buried, they'll bounce.
One community member kindly offered to run my page through their analyser - turned out the technical setup and loading speed were the hidden culprits. Mobile load time was over 3 seconds, and over half my traffic came from phones. Once I optimised that, things finally started moving.
Don't just trust the interface when it says 'below average' - check Pagespeed Insights yourself. And compare conversion rates from other channels like SEO or email. That will tell you if the issue is the ad traffic or the page itself.
