I put so much energy into building the product that marketing it never even crossed my mind. Now I'm staring at a blank slate. My software automates Google Ads optimisation and waste reduction - perfect for small business owners like me. But the only way I can imagine reaching them is through old-school outreach: cold calls, cold emails, that sort of thing.
Here's what I've set in motion so far:
- Did a local podcast talking about the platform
- Booked a spot at a trade show with 5,000 small business attendees
- Hired a VA to handle B2B cold emails, some calls, and social media
- Got a high school student to do cold calls, emails, and door-knocking at local businesses running Google Ads
- I'll be cold calling myself soon
- Starting to lurk in Facebook groups - searching for 'Google Ads' and 'PPC' and commenting on posts less than a month old
I'm heading into peak season for my other company, so hiring is my lifeline right now. And no, I can't run Google Ads for my own software - the budget just isn't there yet. I've got two paying users. My goal is 100 by year's end, which feels realistic if I can just get the ball rolling.
One thought that popped up: should I be partnering with AI agencies or integrators who already work with SMBs? Could be a smarter path than trying to reach each owner directly.
Any seasoned advice would be hugely appreciated.
