Just signed my first affiliate contract with a startup. I want to tear into this and make it work, but the platform/audience combo is doing my head in. Everyone says pick one platform, one niche, one problem, and hammer it with content and an email list. But which platform? And how do you actually validate that choice without burning two months on the wrong one?
I'm a retention guy by trade, so I like measurable stuff-open rates, churn, CLV. But affiliate feels fuzzier. Would love to hear from people who've been at it a while:
- How did you decide which platform to go all-in on?
- Did you start building a list from day one, or wait until you had traction?
- What's the one metric you'd tell a newbie to ignore until month 3?
If you need specifics on the space to give tailored advice, I'm promoting a B2B SaaS productivity tool aimed at small teams. Target is founders and ops managers. Cheers.
