I've been running Google Shopping Ads on my Shopify store. Getting 400+ clicks from Google, but Shopify only shows 30-40 sessions a day. this is my second campaign. The first one had more sessions than clicks because of organic traffic - now it's flipped. My store is new, budget is tiny, and I'm using free credits from Google.
Anyone else seen this kind of disconnect? i've dug into a few likely culprits. Cookie consent banners can wipe out 50-80% of sessions if visitors decline tracking - that's the biggest suspect. Tracking duplication from the Google & YouTube app plus manual code could also break it. And on a small budget, invalid clicks from low-quality placements might be inflating the click count while real traffic never fully loads.
It feels like watching a river flow but the bucket only catches a cup. i turned off my cookie banner a couple of days ago, so I'll see if that shifts the numbers. But I'm curious - what's the most common cause you've seen in the wild? Is it always the consent banner, or do people find deeper tracking issues with Shopify and Google Ads?
