I've been digging into Search Console for a site analysis tool I've been tinkering with, and something's been bugging me. Over 25,000 impressions but only around 60 clicks. That ratio feels like throwing a party and no one comes through the door.
i'm trying to figure out where the real gap is. Are the titles and meta descriptions just not compelling enough? Or is it more about targeting the wrong keywords altogether? Maybe the site hasn't built enough trust signals yet, or the user experience is quietly killing the click-through before people even consider visiting.
Someone in the thread pointed out the obvious - that many impressions at such a low click count usually means you're ranking somewhere between positions 20 and 50. That tracks. A lot of queries piling up eyeballs but not enough visibility to actually drive action. They suggested filtering by position <10 in GSC to isolate whether it's a positioning issue or a title/meta problem. That felt like a solid next step.
another voice chimed in saying you really need to look at the specific keyword, the intent behind it, and where you're currently ranking - plus historical viewer data. Can't argue with that. Without context, it's just guessing.
Right now I'm leaning toward a visibility problem rather than a copy problem, but I'd love to hear from others who've been through this. What's your diagnostic process when you see this kind of impression-to-click disconnect?
