i run a small dev agency, roughly a year old. We place senior devs who work AI-native but still review and debug their own code, so clients get real production work, not something that crumbles after a month. Nearly everything so far has come through referrals. Great when it works, but the tap can turn off any time, and I've got no control over that.
So I've started building outbound properly. got the gear: Instantly, three warmed domains, six inboxes from CheapInboxes (they handle DNS). One campaign run so far.
Here's what that looked like. Grabbed top-level staff at US-based digital marketing agencies (20-50 people) off Sales Navigator, enriched with GetProspect, and sent a basic three-step sequence to just under 500 prospects. It booked one call. i closed it.
Tiny sample, yeah. But if I can book and close a client with targeting and copy that surface-level, someone who does this day in, day out should be able to do a lot more. I'm happy to scale spend once results back it up.
I know my limits. I can build the offer and close on a call, but I'm not the person to write sequences, pull lists, or babysit deliverability. I'd rather hand that to someone who eats this stuff for breakfast.
What I'm after:
- learn what we actually do and turn it into messaging that doesn't sound like every other agency in the inbox
- work out who's worth targeting and what signals say "reach out now"
- write cold email and LinkedIn copy
- run it, test it, keep tuning
- own the sending setup so it doesn't nosedive into spam
I'd want to start with one paid test project before talking ongoing, so we both find out if it works without a big commitment upfront. If it does, it becomes a monthly retainer.
Two questions for the community:
- For services with smaller deal sizes, is cold email still the move in 2026, or would you lean more on LinkedIn these days?
- If you've hired a GTM/outbound person before, what do you wish you'd asked before signing them?
and if this is what you do, reply or DM with something you've actually run and what came of it. no pitch, just real results
