Data processing lag. Search Console isn't real-time. External links data can take days or even weeks to repopulate after a property change or domain verification hiccup. I've seen it vanish for a full 48 hours before slowly crawling back.
Filter or property mismatch. Double-check that you're looking at the right property (domain property vs. URL prefix). If you recently migrated or added a new property, the link data might be sitting under a different view.
Algorithmic dropping. Google sometimes filters out links it considers low-quality or spammy - especially if you've had a manual action or a core update. I've had a site lose a chunk of backlinks after a Helpful Content update, with no warning in the "Links" report.
