i feel like this is the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about, but we're all thinking it.
every platform is incentivised to show you the shiniest version of your results. meta counts view-through conversions like they're gold. Google blends its own brand traffic into everything. those dashboards? They're showing you what they want you to see, not what actually happened.
here's what I've started doing:
📊 Treat platform-reported numbers as purely directional - no more, no less.
🔍 Run my own reconciliation against backend / store data. the gap is almost always there. Sometimes tiny, sometimes uncomfortably big.
So I'm genuinely curious - is anyone out there still fully trusting the numbers in their dashboard? Or has everyone quietly moved to some form of independent verification?
What does your verification process actually look like? i want the real, behind-the-scenes workflow, not the polished version.
