I advise a handful of publishers in sports and entertainment - nothing too hands-on, more of a guiding voice. We've been circling a few ad networks for mid-sized sites with mostly US traffic, and I'm dying to hear real-world experiences beyond the glossy sales pitches.
Freestar: big reputation, but what's the actual day-to-day like? Are the CPMs and RPMs worth the hype? And support - is it responsive or ghost-town?
Ezoic: I know it's a lightning rod. someone in a thread warned to avoid it, but no detail why. Present-day performance? still polarising?
Publisher Desk: catching good whispers from sports site owners - sounds properly publisher-focused, as the name suggests.
Playwire, Mediavine, Snigel, Aditude, Longitude, Snack Media - any gems or duds? Also open to smaller players that punch above their weight.
My main goal is revenue uplift from premium demand - fewer ads, higher RPMs. But I'm noticing more publishers craving full-service partners that handle adops, SEO, Core Web Vitals, design, hosting, even LLMs. Some networks manage to bundle these without diluting focus. Others? A recipe for an hour of attention a month. The advice I got was: avoid a partner that promises everything because you'll barely get dedicated time for monetisation.
Any insights from the trenches? What's working, what's smoke and mirrors?
