Been building websites and running organic content for a handful of local businesses-two car dealerships (one sells Lamborghini, Porsche, AMG) and a hair salon. A roofing company from Austria might come on board next. but honestly, I'm itching to move into paid ads. It just feels more scalable long-term.
the problem: no one will hand over ad budget without proof I can deliver. two paths keep bouncing around in my head.
option one: find new clients who only want performance marketing. But then I'd need a way to cover the ad spend myself or convince them to trust a newbie. that's a tough sell.
option two: run ads for the clients I already have. But they're all service businesses-service providers don't have a clear, recurring ad fee model. How do you even structure payment? Flat retainer? Percentage of spend? Percentage of leads?
A colleague suggested doubling down on organic/UGC instead, since it's closely tied to paid. Spent a few weeks brainstorming video ideas for the dealership. But every time I propose something with a bit of personality-humour, riskier angles-I get told it's too unprofessional for selling Lambos and Porsches. Fair point, but then what's left? Just polished, forgettable content.
Not a ton of experience yet, so I'm open to hearing what's actually worked for others. Critique welcome.
