Been testing cold outreach deliverability and hitting a wall. Here's the setup: two Google Workspace inboxes on separate domains that are about a month old. SPF, DKIM, DMARC all configured correctly. Using Smartlead, plain text emails only-no links, images, attachments, or tracking. Sent about 870 emails so far. Continuous warmup ran for two weeks before starting outreach, and Smartlead reports 100% inbox placement during warmup.
Testing results: Mail-tester gives 10/10, Mailreach is mixed, GlockApps shows poor Gmail placement. The killer: when I send from my actual Smartlead setup to Gmail accounts that have never interacted with my domains, everything lands in spam. The only time it reaches the inbox or primary tab is when the recipient has prior history with the sender.
A few things I'm chewing on: does this sound like a reputation problem, content problem, or both? Is 870 sent emails just not enough for an one-month-old domain? Anyone seen Gmail hate a subject like 'missed calls'? And what would you test next before binning the whole campaign?
One colleague mentioned that a month of warmup is the minimum and if it's already flagged, it's done for. Another said volume per day matters-are you sending drip emails? Also noted the subject is weak. Someone suggested just spinning up ten burner domains and burning through them. keen to hear what else has worked for people.
