been running a few experiments with Claude Code for link prospecting over the last couple of weeks. the real value I've found isn't just the sourcing of URLs - it's the ability to crawl through existing internal or competitor backlink profiles, filter out the noise, and get clean lists for direct submission or outreach.
for direct backlink submissions (think resource pages, niche edits, directory pushes), I've been feeding it a small batch of anchor domains and asking it to scrape and categorise opportunities by domain authority, topical relevance, and whether the target page has a "resources" section. it saves hours of manual spreadsheet combing.
Outreach side is trickier. claude is decent at drafting personalised emails based on the context of the target page, but you still need to review - the tone can be a bit robotic if you don't give it clear instructions about the audience. i tend to use it to generate a few angle variations and then cherry-pick.
for prospecting, I'd recommend pairing it with a crawler or an API export from something like Ahrefs or Majestic. feed Claude the raw data and ask it to score or rank the prospects. The output is more consistent than a human scanning a thousand links after lunch.
Still early days for me, but the scaffolding is solid. what tools are you pairing it with on your end?
