I don't bother probing the big consumer providers either-Google, Microsoft, Yahoo. They block RCPT TO from untrusted IPs by design, so you're just asking to get tarpitted. Mark the whole domain as CATCH_ALL and move on. that's not cutting corners, that's working smart.

For everything else, run those probes from a separate VPS, not the scraping box. datacenter IPs are dead for this anyway.

Catch-alls don't get flagged as VALID in my export-they get their own status. Users can see what they're dealing with and split their sending accordingly. VALID means SMTP confirmed the specific address. CATCH_ALL means the domain accepts anything. different labels, different actions.

First, dumping every major consumer/enterprise domain like Google Workspace and M365 into a CATCH_ALL bucket without verifying them is a massive cop-out.
