i'm knee-deep in setting up my B2B lead gen workflow, and i keep hitting the same wall. Right now I've got an automated filter that runs through around 700k businesses, targeting specific industries like construction or real estate. All I save is company name and email - I deliberately skip phone numbers.
two things I can't quite figure out:
First, is just company name plus email enough? Or should I bother scraping decision-maker names, website, city? Does that extra personalisation actually bump conversion rates, or is generic outreach fine? i've seen mixed results myself - sometimes a 'Hi [First Name]' makes no difference.
Second, the legal side - GDPR and all those local e-privacy laws make cold emailing a bit of a minefield here in the EU. Even though the contacts are publicly available B2B, I'm paranoid. do you send a quick, non-salesy intro asking for permission first, or go straight in with the offer? Would genuinely love to know what works in practice.
