Cold calling wore me out too, honestly. The numbers just don't stack up for most of us anymore. I made the jump to video prospecting maybe eight months ago and it felt like a completely different world.
Instead of trying to ambush someone mid-task, I send a short personalised video-thirty to forty-five seconds tops-through LinkedIn or email. You can call out something specific about their company, show your face, keep it low-pressure. The reply rate went from roughly three in a hundred with cold calls to something like one in six with video.
The trick is the same as what you mentioned about voicemail scripts: keep it casual, don't overthink it. I just use my laptop camera and mention something I genuinely noticed about their business. it comes across more like I'm reaching out to help than trying to pitch.
Cold calling still has its place for certain sectors or follow-ups, but as a go-to strategy it's just not efficient for most of us these days.
What industry are you in? Curious if voicemail drops work better in some verticals than others.
