two weeks ago my very first post went stupidly viral. A cat video. My day job is e-commerce ads and shopping feeds, so when it comes to short-form social video I'm completely flying blind. Somewhere in my head I convinced myself that posting more would somehow kill the momentum, and Google's own creator advice literally says "don't spam your audience," so I obeyed like a genius.
Hindsight is brutal. i pulled in barely a thousand followers because the profile was empty except for that one clip. Nobody had a reason to hit follow.
That video and a similar follow-up have both plateaued now, but they still pick up likes every few minutes. the clips feature some big-name products, so I reached out to those companies through Instagram DMs. One reply out of all of them, and it basically said "cute cat, but we won't be using him." Cool, cool.
Honestly I can't shake this sick feeling that I fumbled a shot at some Christmas money, or at least a real follower base. Maybe that's expecting way too much out of a single viral spike?
is there anything I can or should actually do at this point, or is the answer just "post more and hope"?
