Every reel on my makeup artist page dies at the same exact number: 200 views. It's driving me insane. Been running this as a zero-budget growth experiment, posting bridal before-and-afters, hairstyling tutorials, and model showcase clips. Engagement from people who already follow is fine. Reach outside of them is basically zero.
Hook formats? Tested a bunch. Audio? Swapped it. Edit pace? Changed that too. Views still park at 200 like the account has a hard ceiling. So what actually causes this in the beauty and personal service niche: average watch time, account trust, or audience targeting? Anyone scaled a page here recently?
An update after digging through responses. Someone in the thread explained that being stuck around 200 usually means Instagram only shows the reel to a small test group, mostly followers. When strangers don't stick around, it never spreads further. Check insights for non-follower views and the skip rate. If people swipe away in the first couple of seconds, the problem is the opening, not the account. For bridal and makeup, start on the finished look or the biggest moment of the transformation, then go back to the before instead of building up to a reveal. Add plain text on screen telling a stranger why they should care, and use caption words people actually search for, like the type of look plus your area. Trial reels help too since they go to non-followers first, so different openings get tested without wearing out followers.
The rest of the advice was pure vibes: post every day or buy ads. Great, except plenty of us have full-time jobs, which is exactly why the zero-budget route is worth figuring out.
