I work in a tiny advertising market here in Latin America. Lucky to be at one of the best agencies in my country, but the creative industry is so small sometimes it feels like there's a low ceiling.

I started studying online to push my thinking further, but had to pause because it wasn't financially sustainable. Also help support my family, so money's tight.

This year we submitted to Young Ones and D&AD and didn't win. Couldn't afford to enter Young Lions locally either. Seeing the global competition - the ideas, the execution - has been humbling and honestly painful. Makes me wonder if I'm behind, or if I even belong here.

Only got about a year of real experience but it already feels like a long road.

What keeps me going is the belief that creativity can be useful, that ideas can help people, not just sell stuff. Sometimes wonder if that's inspiring or just naive.

What you can control is the process. Building the scripts to audit citations. Systematising the review generation workflow. Testing heading structures across different schema types. Take satisfaction in that grind, and you might keep your sanity.

If along the way you make something that actually helps people, nice bonus. But if you've got a genuinely transformative idea, don't hand it to an agency. You're better off building a business around it yourself, because otherwise it's going to rot in a deck.

the industry's full of smoke and mirrors. Doesn't mean there isn't a place for you - just don't mistake the awards circuit for reality. figure out what you're actually good at and whether you can stomach the bullshit. that's the only thing that matters

i've scaled stores from 6 to 8 figures by ignoring the brief half the time and shipping work that pissed people off before they saw the results. Your taste is your unfair advantage-stop treating it like a curse. Use it to burn the bridge between where you are and where you want your book to go

Totally get that feeling, it's so easy to get caught up watching everyone else's highlight reels. What finally shifted things for me was remembering: you get to do this.
