You can absolutely learn enough SEO to grow your own business without turning into a full-time specialist. For a hospitality business, I'd focus less on "mastering SEO" and more on the stuff that actually drives bookings.
Start with Google Business Profile and Search Console - those two alone will show you how people find your place. Then pick up basic keyword research (what travellers are actually searching), optimise your page titles and descriptions, and create helpful content around your location.
Something like a guide on "Best neighbourhoods to stay in [city]" or local travel tips often works way better than a pure promotional page.
Don't get lost in SEO courses either. The fastest way to learn is by tweaking your own site and watching what moves rankings over time. Takes patience, but for a local business, even small improvements can make a real difference. Totally doable yourself before dropping £1k/month on an agency.
