I live and breathe Google Ads and negative keywords, but lately I've been looking at organic PR to diversify. i started pitching guest posts to outlets in my niche. One rejected me out of nowhere, but three others came back offering paid articles and link placements.
are these paid links on niche-specific, high domain authority sites actually worth it? i'm used to throwing ad spend at scaling B2B SaaS accounts, but I don't want to burn cash on publications bait-and-switching me.
a colleague mentioned that while paying for links technically violates Google's terms of service, guest posts can still be super valuable if the site is respected, gets traffic, and offers real value. it's essentially digital PR. But you need a strategy, otherwise it's not a good long-term play.
Someone else pointed out that if they're charging you to place an article with linked keywords on a high authority, relevant site, it's worth doing.
There are free routes, though they're a grind. Answering journalist questions on HARO or Qwoted is a solid method. It's free but difficult. You can also create genuinely valuable, data-backed content and pitch it to earn links. eventually, you build relationships with publishers and it gets easier.
Long story short, it's valuable, but avoid paying if you don't have a solid strategy. Comparison pages usually cost money, but the free methods pay off if you put in the work.
