I started my career in marketing after uni, and early roles had a small motion design component. Over time, that slice grew until I found myself as a full-time motion designer at a production studio. Thing is, I really miss the marketing side-campaign strategy, content planning, all of it. So I'm trying to find something that splits roughly 50/50 between digital design (mostly motion) and marketing work.
My skillset's pretty broad: I know all the major Adobe apps, plus After Effects, Cavalry, and some 3D animation. Essentially I'm a Swiss Army knife, and I want a role that actually uses both sides.
I've come across titles like Marketing Designer, Digital Designer, Creative Strategist, Content Marketing Designer, Visual Communications Specialist, and Creative Producer. But it's hard to tell which ones are genuinely hybrid and which are just design production jobs tucked inside a marketing team.
Has anyone here actually held a role where you split time between designing and strategizing? What job titles should I search for? And how would you recommend positioning a mixed skill set like this on a CV or in interviews?
Appreciate any insight from those who've been there or hire for similar roles.
