Saw another thread yesterday asking if marketing is dead because of AI. Same panic, different quarter.
Here's the thing: 99% of what floods marketing communities right now falls into two buckets. First, the "genuinely curious" posts that are clearly written by the same three prompt templates. Second, people screaming that Claude or GPT gave them garbage - then turning around and telling pros their rates are too high because "AI can do that."
It's the Dunning-Kruger effect on steroids. Anyone can generate paragraphs of recycled copy that sounds confident. That confidence is the problem. It masks the fact that the output is surface-level, strategically empty, and often factually wrong.
Your AI output is only as good as the direction you give it. The strategy, the audience insight, the judgment call on when to pivot - that's the job. The tool just executes faster.
What we're in right now is the messy middle. Grifters everywhere selling "AI marketing systems" that are literally three ChatGPT prompts in a Notion template. They'll burn out or get exposed. Meanwhile, the marketers who actually know why a campaign works? Their leverage just went up.
The complainers saying they'll quit before the "golden age" arrives - good. Less noise.
Keep doing the work. The gap between "I prompted an LLM" and "I built a strategy that converts" is where the money lives. Always has been.
