Eight months of silence after a layoff, then this landed: a consulting gig with a digital agency that wants to break into traditional media. Right now that means helping them run a current client through RFP rounds for TV, OOH, radio, the works.
The part that still feels unreal? Capped at about 20 hours a week, and they offered double my old rate anyway. Zero pushback.
The cap exists for a good reason. My kid has special needs and the transition to a new school has been rough, so full-time is off the table no matter what gets offered.
Two outcomes, both livable. Win the pitch and media doesn't even start until 2027, which leaves months of runway to build the plan and negotiate placements properly. Lose it and there are still some consulting hours available, which honestly sounds fine. The local job market is brutal, and a 40-hour commitment isn't realistic with everything happening at home.
Funny thing, turns out years of spreadsheet work transfer to billboards and broadcast just fine. Grateful to be working again, plain and simple.
