I'm putting together something for affiliate marketers and I really need to hear from people who actually do this day in, day out. It's called PIE - Platform Incentivizing Engagement. The idea is dead simple: you share a slice of your commission as cashback with your shoppers. Plus you can set up engagement quests - 'follow my Instagram', 'comment on my post', that kind of thing - for extra cashback to nudge both sales and engagement.

To verify a shopper qualifies, PIE pulls transaction data directly from your network via API - read-only access. We never touch your links, payouts, or settings, and you can kill the access whenever you want. We're at the alpha stage now and need 5-8 affiliate marketers who already have publisher accounts on Impact, Awin, CJ, Pepperjam, or Rakuten to help us prove the tracking actually works.

📊 Track just two numbers from day one: clicks from each piece of content (page, comment, video) and which merchant those clicks go to. No clicks means a topic or trust issue. Clicks with no purchases means your offer fit is off.

That said, incentivised traffic is a ticking time bomb. you're essentially paying shoppers to convert, which screws with the affiliate network's view of genuine performance. a lot of networks will flag that as low-quality lead gen, especially if returns spike.

the real headache is the payout status. You mention you can see confirmation from the API, but on some networks the payment window can scroll for months and there's no way to reconcile the shopper's cashback with the influencer's actual commission. That gap is where fraud lives - shopper returns the item after getting paid, the influencer gets clawed back, and you're stuck holding the bag.

Testing without sandboxes is a nightmare. I've been in that exact spot - relying on docs that are outdated or just wrong. you'll probably need to run a small closed beta with real users and eat the risk for a couple of cycles to validate the subid flow. Hope you've got the budget for that.
