I've spent the last few years wiring up marketing stacks with Make and Zapier - webhooks, custom code modules, the whole nine yards. Every client eventually asks for attribution reporting, and every tool promises the moon.
Here's what I've learned the hard way: nobody actually cares about AI assistants or fancy dashboards. They care that Meta claims $20k in revenue, Google claims $15k, and the bank account shows $28k. The $7k gap is where trust dies.
What actually matters:
- Can I see exactly where double-counting happens without exporting CSVs at 2 AM?
- Does the LTV calculation hold up when I spot-check against Stripe?
- Can I push clean, deduplicated data to Sheets or Looker via API without building a custom ETL pipeline every time?
AI is useful only after the data is trustworthy - "show me highest ROAS campaign this month" works when the underlying numbers aren't fiction. Before that, it's just confident hallucinations.
Building something in this space? Skip the AI chatbot. Solve the reconciliation nightmare first. That's the product people will pay for.
Happy to hop on a call if you're tackling this - I've got war stories and webhook logs to prove it.
