I'm a product-led growth specialist, so activation rate is my north star. You'd think big pipeline changes move the needle, but the single highest-leverage thing I ever did? Changed one sentence in my cold outreach opener.
Went from 'we help companies like yours...' to a specific, data-backed observation about their product's onboarding drop-off. Reply rate went from under 5% to nearly 15% within a week. No CRM swap, no sequence rebuild, just one line that proved I'd actually looked at their numbers.
Also: shutting up after asking a qualifying question. I used to fill the silence with more features or 'just to clarify..' - now I wait. Painfully long. The prospect ends up revealing objections or budget constraints I'd never have uncovered otherwise. That behavioural hack probably tripled my close rate on discovery calls.
Other quick wins: sending a short voice note instead of a follow-up email after a no-show, and always scheduling the next call while still on the current one - no email ping-pong. Both cost zero effort.
Curious if anyone else has found a micro-change that outperformed the 'big strategy' books.
