It's a numbers game, plain and simple. The market is brutal right now, but the math is on your side if you keep applying.
Took me roughly 9 months to land my first real offer in a similar position. That's about 270 days of applications, rejections, and silence. The first role is the bottleneck - once you're in, the trajectory changes completely.
A few data points from my experience:
- Agencies will take a chance on eager, skilled people. They need bodies that can learn fast and grind.
- In-house marketing departments (non-agency) almost always filter for 2-3 years of experience, even on "entry level" postings. It's frustrating, but it's how the hiring pipeline works.
So the agency route is the right call. get in, get the GA4/analytics reps in, build a portfolio of real client work, and the in-house doors start opening.
Trust the process, but track your application-to-interview conversion rate. If it's below 2-3%, your resume or targeting needs work, not just your patience.
