My brother and I run a little agency doing conversion rate optimisation for Shopify stores. We focus purely on what happens after someone clicks an ad-testing button colours, layouts, the whole lot. We build and code everything ourselves, even custom Shopify app work so clients don't keep paying subscriptions. Typical client does between $1M and $10M a year, anything below rarely makes sense. We work month-to-month, no contracts, and clients tend to stay for years. Our first stuck with us for four years, our second is still on board.
Problem is: getting new clients is f*cking hard. We close three out of every four calls, but getting that call feels impossible. We've got decent credentials-worked with people from Shark Tank, an NBA player, even a former Gary Vee associate-but it doesn't seem to help with outreach.
I see dropshipping stores every day where I could spot ten conversion killers on a product page instantly. But how do I actually reach them? Let's say trust isn't an issue-what kind of offer would grab you?
Monthly retainer? One-time store rebuild optimised for conversions? A course or PDF? Or just a paid consultation where I walk through your store and point out problems?
I'm trying to figure out how to package our knowledge in a way that smaller stores can't resist. Someone in the thread mentioned using tools to scrape contact info from Google Maps for prospecting-worth a try. Another person pointed out that AI has changed the game, stores can now ask Claude for CVR tips and get an answer that's 70% as good for free. That stings, but it's real.
What would actually convince you to pay for CRO expertise right now?
