i love marketing... but I hate how obsessed everyone is with reach. It's like a race to the bottom - pour money into grabbing new users, but never stop to ask why the ones you already have keep ghosting you.
Had a client in the same boat. Pumped ad spend, traffic soared, signups followed. then - silence. Drop-off. Money gone, nothing left. We shifted focus to retention. Fixed the onboarding flow, rewrote welcome emails, added a simple thank-you page after checkout. Small, boring stuff.
Result? Same traffic, but retention improved by nearly half. Those same people came back, started referring others. the funny bit is retention work is cheap. Reach work is expensive. But people still chase reach because it looks good. Saying "we got a million impressions" sounds sexy. Saying "we cut churn by 5%" sounds dull, but that's where the actual money lives.
So yeah. the ones quietly fixing retention are growing. The ones obsessed with reach are burning out. Customer experience is the new marketing, plain and simple.
