I've been using Pinterest for years as a casual user-boards, inspo pics, the whole thing. But now I'm trying to actually grow an account with the goal of driving outbound clicks and eventually monetising. starting from scratch feels a bit like shouting into the void.
After digging into it, a few things have stood out. First, niche matters more than i thought. The niches that work best are the ones that jump out when you browse logged out-nails, hair, DIY, fashion, decor, travel, food, tattoos, that kind of thing. other niches just don't seem to get traction.
second, the pins themselves need to hint at deeper value on your website. think collages or images with text overlays that make someone want to click through. avoid niches where the full value is in the pin itself, like quotes or wall art. You want people who want to do something physical-cook, craft, redecorate.
keywords are everything too. Use them in your pin titles and descriptions exactly as they show up in Pinterest search. and consistency is brutal but necessary: 5-10 pins a day, and don't stop. It's a grind, but I'm starting to see small wins after a few weeks of sticking to that routine.
would love to hear what's worked for others-especially anyone who's actually monetised a Pinterest account
