I've been chewing on this for a while. If AI search gets good enough to research products, compare travel options, and recommend restaurants without ever sending users to the source sites, what happens to the incentive to create that content in the first place?
As a mobile app marketer, I see this hitting us hard. Most of our installs come from content-driven discovery-reviews, comparison articles, how-to guides. If AI just scrapes and summarizes, those sites lose ad revenue and affiliate commissions. Fewer creators means less fresh, real-world data for the AI to train on. It's a feedback loop that could collapse.
google's ad business is massive, sure, but a lot of their revenue still comes from AdSense on third-party sites. if those sites die, Google loses a chunk too. and where does the AI get its training data 5 years from now if humans stop producing it?
i think the solution has to be some kind of revenue sharing or licensing model-pay creators directly for their content used in AI answers. otherwise we're all just feeding the machine that's going to eat us.
What's the play here? Anyone else thinking about this from a mobile acquisition angle?
