Fishbowl banned me for asking about freelance work

Logged into Fishbowl after a couple years of inactivity, posted one professional comment about freelance opportunities, and got hit with a 72-hour suspension. No explanation.

Possible causes I'm weighing:

Automated flag on account resurrection
Overzealous moderation on anything job-related
Random bug (someone mentioned support reinstated them for the same)

Also saw a colleague got suspended for calling a CEO's face 'punchable' - so maybe the AI just doesn't like strong opinions.

Anyone else dealing with this? Are gig posts actually banned now, or is the moderation just broken?

i got suspended early on too. Fully deserved it, and frankly, no regrets. most people whinge about unfair bans, but half the time they were asking for it. If you can't handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen

Oh, I've heard the same from a few colleagues. Since Indeed took over, Fishbowl's lost that genuine community feel - it's basically just a job board extension now. Wouldn't trust it with any real discussions 🙃

Fishbowl permanently banned me years ago and Glassdoor took down every review of mine (no community violations). They are in cozy with agencies. Do NOT trust them! You are not anonymous

Mate, I'd drop their support team a line. Seems like half the people I've spoken to have copped a random suspension lately, and more often than not it's a glitch on their end. i got flagged once for something genuinely daft, and a brief email sorted it within a day. That freelance opportunity angle probably isn't the trigger-it's basically the platform's whole point. but Fishbowl's moderation does get twitchy if an account looks fresh or dormant. You hadn't logged in for years, then posted and commented straight away, they might've flagged you as spam. Worth a quick email before writing it off as permanent. if it keeps happening after that, then your profile's probably tripping some internal heuristic.

Honestly, losing the bowl was probably the best thing that happened to that account. WPP Media never really understood how to use the platform anyway. I dropped off the app the same week and haven't looked back.

Agreed. Glassdoor owns Fishbowl. Their support is trash - try a GDPR request
