"Make connections" sounds obvious, but honestly that's half the battle for beginners. Spent years in paid social and when I first ventured onto LinkedIn, I made the mistake of connecting with anyone and everyone. That's not it.
Think quality over quantity. Start by following people actually doing the job you want - brand-side social buyers, ad agency strategists, platform reps. Engage with their posts before sending a connection request. A thoughtful comment is better than a blank invite.
And don't ignore the search function. Type in something like "paid social buyer UK beauty" and see who pops up. That's how I've built my network - slowly, deliberately.
One thing I'd add: join the relevant LinkedIn groups. They're often overlooked but the discussions there can be gold for a beginner.
Are you focusing on a particular industry or just general social media jobs?
