Honestly, I'm curious why you're ruling out WordPress too. Not saying you have to use it, but a lot of affiliate marketers I know still swear by it for a reason. If you're set on something else though, a headless setup sounds like it matches what you're describing pretty well. Pair a CMS with a static frontend and you get way more control - which, since you're a UX person, is probably exactly what you want. π
A few things to consider if you go headless:
π Flexibility - You're not boxed into templates or page builders.
π Performance - Static frontends fly, which helps with SEO and user experience.
π Your call - It really comes down to how much setup you're willing to invest upfront vs convenience later.
But if you want something that just works out of the box and still gives you solid UX control, don't write off WordPress entirely. Plenty of us are making it work just fine.
